Vegan Food in Varanasi, India
Taste of Varanasi
Arriving in this confusing and maze-like place was strange and also scary as it was our first destination in India and we didn’t know what to expect. You hear all sorts of scary stories about this country and some of them have stuck in my mind. But now I am here to make my own experiences and form my own opinions.
We stayed at the end of the Ganges during the hottest season in Rajasthan. When you’re on a long trip around the world, you can’t always be in the best season in every country. So far we have been lucky, but now we have reached the worst season. That means getting up at 4am and sightseeing until 10am.
After that, we were told we’d better stay in the hotel because it was going to be bloody hot outside. At 4pm it was possible to go out again and explore the Ganges and the markets around Varanasi. We stayed in Varanasi for about a week and ate most of our meals at the hotel, which served wonderful and delicious vegan dal bat.
